RE: Employee Parking

County Employees that have been parking in the parking garage at Main and Wayne.  We received notice from the company that owns the garage that it will be closed starting at 6pm today March 31, 2023 for repairs.  We do not have a timeline in which it will reopen.  The County Commissioners have secured a parking lot at the Herman and Geotz property at 225 S. Lafayette (Corner of Lafayette and Wayne).  Employees will not have to pay money to park in this lot.  This will be a first come, first serve parking lot.  We are encouraging you to not leave any valuables in your vehicles (I.E. Cell phones, laptops) as this is an open lot.

NOTE:  This lot is open to any County Employee and MACOG employee.  Not just if you utilized the parking garage at Main and Wayne.

If you currently are being deducted for the parking garage, please reach out to Sharon Toth at stoth@sjcindiana.com to have that deduction stopped.  You will need to turn your access card from the Garage into HR on the 7th Floor prior to getting the deduction stopped.

If you have any questions please direct them to sjccom@sjcindiana.com.

MEMO FROM BRADLEY CO.

119 West Wayne Street Garage

Dear Parkers,

In mid-February, an exterior non-structural portion of the 119 West Wayne Street Garage façade fell from the garage. As a result of the incident, professional engineering firms have been engaged to perform a comprehensive analysis of the garage’s concrete façade columns.

Based on this recommendation and in an abundance of caution for public safety, the City of South Bend will be closing a portion of Wayne and Jefferson Streets (as well as their sidewalks) in front of 119 West Wayne Street Garage. It is anticipated that the closure will begin during the evening of March 31, 2023, and continue through further inspection and evaluation of engineering reports (with reopening to be determined). While the streets are closed, access to the parking garage will be unavailable, and alternative parking arrangements will need to be made. Please make sure to remove your vehicle from the garage before 6:00 P.M. on 3/31/2023. In the event that you are unable to remove your vehicle by this time, please reach out to parking@bradleyco.com or call 574-213-5612   as soon as possible, and we will work with you and the City.

Bradley Co has secured temporary alternative locations for your vehicles during the closure. If you would like to reserve one of these alternative locations, please complete attached parking form and bring it to the third floor Bradley office Friday  or Monday to pick up your garage access card.  Unfortunately, there will likely not be enough parking spaces available at one specific location, so the choice of alternative locations will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We and ownership of the garage sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this temporary closure. Please know that we are working to resolve all of the issues as quickly as possible and will notify you as soon as we have any further information on the timing for reopening.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.
