Orienteering is an activity for all ages and levels of fitness and skill, in which the object is to locate control points within the park using a detailed map. It can be enjoyed as a leisurely walk in the woods or as a competitive sport combining the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt.

St. Patrick’s County Park will be offering a summer orienteering series. A new course will be set up each month, June-August. Navigate to checkpoints throughout the park using a special, highly detailed map. The route between each point is not specified, and crafty and quick navigation decisions are the essence of the sport. Courses vary between 2-3km and usually take between 30 and 90 minutes. Maps and self-lead directions are available Saturday-Sunday, 10am-6pm in the gatehouse. Gate fees will be in effect.
