Our newest service starts today(January 10, 2019)! Our partners at INTEGRA dropped off SECURE/LOCKED bins for document shredding. Residents can come to our Kerr Street HHW Center during business hours and safely dispose of confidential papers that are piling up at home. No on site fees!
The main HHW center is located at 828 Kerr St. South Bend IN 46601 and is open year round. Hours 8:30-4:00 Monday-Friday, Saturday 8:00-12:00. The HHW Center in Mishawaka is now open 8:30-3:00 Tuesday-Saturday.

RECYCLING CUSTOMERS
On January 14, 2019, a public meeting was held by the Board of Directors (Board) for the Solid Waste Management District of St. Joseph County (SWMD). With an eye on reducing costs, the Board approved that Recycling fees will now be collected as a "Special Assessment" on County Property tax rolls. $17.00 Recycling Fee and $4.50 Hazardous Waste Fee will be collected with property taxes twice annually. City of South Bend residents will no longer be billed on the Water Bill. County residents will not receive paper bills.

The Solid Waste Management District serves all residents throughout St. Joseph County.
The District was formed in 1991 by St. Joseph County Resolution 5-97. This resolution established a District in accordance with IC 13-21-2-14.5.
